This article provides a critical review of the text "Challenges and Prospects for Canadian Social Studies" edited by Alan Sears and Ian Wright and widely used in Canadian social studies contexts.

Author Biography

Jennifer Anne Tupper, Universityof Regina

Jennifer Tupper is an Associate Professor of social studies education and curriculum theory in the Faculty of Education at the University of Regina. She is a former high school teacher and has worked in British Columbia, Alberta and Saskatchewan. Jennifer’s research interests are in the areas of curricular discourses, citizenship education, treaty education and the shared relationships between First Nations and non-First Nations people in Canada, critical race theory and whiteness studies.
